With his systems administration background, Derek specializes in automation, developer workflow improvements, and engineering standardization.
His experience includes Fortune 500 companies, small to medium startups, municipal, state, and federal government contracting.
He has developed training content and delivered training for IBM, Red Hat, Novell, HP, Lockheed Martin, and the Department of Defense.
As a proponent of open-source, Derek has contributed to various open-source tools, including Ansible and Cobbler. He has also authored other infrastructure-related open source tools such as vault_helper.
He established two open-source related user groups; and participates in several others.
